What Are the Symptoms of Virus in the Body?

Viruses are microscopic organisms that have the potential to cause an infection in the body. A virus is made up of DNA or RNA strands. Virus isn’t capable of surviving by itself. It must attach itself to a lively cell in order to survive. The virus uses the DNA or RNA to replicate and produce further infections.

A virus attaches itself to a living cell and is able to change its functions. As a result the cell to which it gets attached might die. Upon death, many viruses can be released from the cell thus spreading the infection further more. However, viruses generally affect only similar kind of cells.

The most common viral infection is the respiratory tract infection. For instance, Pneumonia is the infection of the lower respiratory tract whereas common cold involves the upper respiratory tract. Most common symptoms of virus in the body surface (skin) are chicken pox and wart. There can be various symptoms of virus in the body. This greatly depends upon the virus’s strain and its activity in the human body.

Rabies and encephalitis are some symptoms of virus in the body, precisely viral infection of the nervous system. Hepatitis is also one of the most dangerous symptoms of virus in the body; it is the viral invasion of the liver and could be very problematic. When the gastrointestinal system of the body is affected with a virus, the most probable symptoms are diarrhea and vomiting. Since the virus messes with the stomach and the intestines this greatly hampers digestion resulting in an upset stomach.

The most common and popular symptoms of virus in the body today is that of stomach flu. Since there is no a 100 % effective treatment (antibiotics doesn’t work) against the virus, it has gained a lot of popularity among the people. Also, the Stomach flu symptoms closely resemble that of flu (influenza) and thus it has created a lot of confusion.

The symptoms of virus in the body could be mild or severe. It depends and varies from individual to individual. Age, presence of any medical condition and the strain of the infecting virus plays a vital role in determining the severity of the symptoms. Diarrhea, vomiting, weakness, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, muscle aches are some common symptoms of virus in the body. Fever, chills and rash are also virus related symptoms. More severe symptoms of the virus in the body include dehydration, back pain, loss of sensation, impaired bowel functions, neck stiffness, seizures and sleepiness.
